Nice blend of layers man! Some hi-hat variations would just be gold on this one! Dig those various bass riffs in there. You implementing some live playing on the bass here? I remember you getting into the bass guitar at some point.

B-RadGfromOV responds:

Thanks chief. It's a soundfont of a Squier bass. Didn't even think to actually play it lol I'll try that next time

Love it. Great mix of stuff. Really nailing this mysterious and occult vibe with those layers! I always love how hard it is to pick out your chopping of samples (it usually sounds like the sample is just freely playing).

I've been following some of those LA beat scene dudes on twitter and feel like your beats could easily gain some clout from them. Could easily experiment with a store page that sells beat tapes.

You still using flstudio these days? The new hip thing seems to be serrato, but from what I've witnessed, you're quite apt at making fl studio sing just fine.

B-RadGfromOV responds:

Thanks man. The deft drag and drop skills lol

Yeah I still use the old FL from like 8 yrs ago, haven't really had the motivation to learn a new setup. Not so much focus for beats these days, hence the loops

haha! Funnily enough, i remember mixing this with that owl beat that you made way back when you let me mess with it!

Never need a pardon for your loops man!

B-RadGfromOV responds:

Yeah I probably still have the project file somewhere

I don't think I've come across someone who chops samples like you!

It's strange, while I appreciate the movement with all of the lofi beats that has come about, I feel like they all feel like they're made by the same person (even the more thoughtful ones that are more well done)

great beat!

DJDureagon responds:

The secret is to start chopping even if you don't think its going to work and then seeing what happens.

Seems it was a great day to creep Newgrounds! lovely beat man!

B-RadGfromOV responds:

Thanks!

Monkius has a really great point!

I could see some kind of nujabes/samurai champloo in the sense that the beats really feel like they have particular scenes to go with them...more-so then most beats that I hear.

I think part of it is that you are actually very expressive with your sampling, orchestrating stuff out of your chops, rather than just mixing loops together...more-so then most beats that I hear. :D

B-RadGfromOV responds:

Thank you man!

So far so good! The use of the vst's have this poppy sound.

Part of me wants to say to throw some inversions of the chords here and there (like you would when making variations for chops in different loops), and maybe even some dissonance into some of the chords (Maybe some diminished or augmented chords?) to give it that more haunted feeling to match the samples.

I can extrapolate if any of that is getting into jargon territory.

B-RadGfromOV responds:

Yeah I follow. The chords sound okay but not quite to the level of atmosphere the sample's got and repeat too similarly each time. I'll try to add other vsts too to break up the sameness of the tune

Beautiful! I had this looping for a good while!

DJDureagon responds:

Thanks for coming through jovi.

Love it! Very clean, but manages to be colorful and nuanced! Finish it! :D

DJDureagon responds:

Im trying!

Sweet! like these new batch of beats! (this ones my favorite)
Very clean layering of samples!

Kamikazi1 responds:

I've got more coming, many many beats have been made in my absence of this portal. I hope to do more work with you man, did my soul good to see you were still here cooking up that fire.

Hey folks, another lover of music (mainly doing so through rap/singing/beats these days). Been at it for many years off and on and had just caught the bug to make fully-pledged projects as opposed to one-offs.
